Position available: Homework Club Director
Part-time, 18 hours/week, 25 weeks during school year

Washington United Church of Christ is a “mission church” located in the Camp Washington neighborhood of Cincinnati. We operate several outreach ministries, including Homework Club, an after-school tutoring program that meets at the church from 4-5:30 p.m. Monday-Thursday during the school year. Volunteer tutors give one-on-one instruction and homework help to up to 25 children age 5-15. Homework Club is a secular program.
The Homework Club director:
Coordinates the day-to-day operations of Homework Club, creating a structure that is disciplined and provides for academic work and enrichment activities
Recruits students
Recruits, trains and develops volunteer tutors from churches, high schools, colleges, service organizations, businesses, etc.
Develops relationships with the children, their families, and their schools through school and home visits and other means of communication
Assembles curriculum (grade-appropriate worksheets, etc.) for use when students have no homework
Provides a healthy snack for the children each day with food provided by the church
Skills required:
Experience in fields of education, social work and/or child development preferred
Ability to plan and operate program with minimal supervision
Desire to work with children and adults (parents and tutors) from diverse backgrounds
Ability to promote Homework Club and recruit tutors through written and spoken communications
Work schedule:
3-6 p.m. Monday-Thursday at the church for Homework Club setup and supervision
Remaining time (6 hours/week) flexible
Salary: $9,000/year
