Creating safe and clean community

Mission is what we do.

In partnership with Camp Washington, Washington UCC has a vision to create a community that is safe and clean, where people have enough food, decent housing, opportunities for education and work, and live in an environment that nurtures all families.

Our mission is to do what Jesus taught: minister together with our neighbors to improve lives physically, emotionally and spiritually.

Outreach Ministries

Our vision to create community in which people have enough food compels us to provide freshly prepared lunches and dinners to our neighbors. Gathering around the table builds supportive relationships and creative solutions to life’s many challenges

Where everything is free!

A choice pantry with free clothing and household items serves our neighborhood through generous donations from our many supporters. Shoppers may receive food three times a month!

Homework Club facilitates meaningful intergenerational relationships as tutors work one-on-one with students to complete their homework, practice skills, read and play games.

Sunday Worship

10 AM

Worship is very casual as there is a small but interesting collection of folks who read the scriptures and reflect meaningfully upon them. All elements of worship create a spirit of reverence and remembrance as we sing, pray, and share communion together.

Upcoming worship services:
Jan. 26 - Health and Human Services Sunday
Feb. 2 - Last Sunday of “The Hero’s Journey” Sermon Series
Feb. 9, 16 & 23 - Sermon Series: “This Is Bigger Than Us”

Seasonal Ministries

Summer Program - Mission Immersion

Youth groups from supporting churches spend a week living and working at Washington UCC to engage with the children in our neighborhood, developing impactful relationships and building diverse community. The young people also partner with other nonprofit agencies to expand their experience of service and generosity.

Gifts to the Manger

The Christ Child was born into poverty and gifted by the Magi. What better way to celebrate Jesus’ birth than to do the same for children in our community. Washington UCC provides toys and clothing for more than 300 children every Christmas through the generous support of other churches, businesses and individuals.

Thanksgiving Dinner

On the Tuesday before Thanksgiving, Camp Cupboard and Closet distributes a prepare-at-home Thanksgiving meal to more than 80 households. There are no income or residential qualifiers. Bring a state ID or piece of mail with current address.
